AIRCRAFT RENTAL
You spoke and we listened! We have been told by local pilots that they would fly much more if we only had a little larger plane than the Cessna 152 to rent. We bit the bullet and recently upgraded our flight instruction/rental aircraft from a Cessna 152, to a Cessna 172M Skyhawk II.
- While not new, it is a great plane. This aircraft has a great maintenance pedigree. We physically inspected our 172 from prop to rudder and know she is a great aircraft. Our newly acquired IFR certified Cessna 172 is now available to rent. The hourly "wet" rate for this plane is $95.00 per hour.

- Our insurance requires we do our "due diligence," therefore, first time renters are given a brief check-ride including the obvious take off, a quick trip around the "patch" and a landing. We want to ensure all renter pilots are current, comfortable, and familiar with the equipment, instruments and handling characteristics of the plane. We will also need to make copies of your pilot's license, current medical, etc. We want to be certain to maintain compliance with TSA and Homeland security requirements. We must also confirm through logbook review that all renters are current. If desired one of our instructors will be happy to accompany you and have you current in a matter of minutes.
- Although we are presently not open on weekends, with advanced notice we are always more than happy to accommodate customers with weekend plane rental. In the event the rental plane, or any service is desired on short notice after hours, or on weekends, DCFS has personnel on call and will respond as needed; however, there is a minimum $35.00 call out fee charged.
- Insurance should always be a concern when renting an airplane. Dubois County Flight Services, Inc, carries adequate insurance; however, our coverage limits for flight instruction and aircraft rental is $100,000.00 per person, and $1,000,000.00 per occurrence. We recommend that all renter pilots consider supplementing the FBO renter insurance coverage through outside venders. AOPA is an excellent and reasonably priced source for additional liability insurance. AOPA is also a great authority for students and pilots to research regarding all aspects of renting aircraft.
Dubois County Flight Services offers our student pilots a wealth of knowledge drawn not only from our flight instructors, but from our corporate pilots as well. We also have a full library of both visual flight rule and instrument flight rules training videos. When instructing, it is our instructor's only job is to make our students safe, proficient, and confident pilots.
